Summer Dance Forever Theater Expo

Sjoerd Derine is a performance art photographer from the Netherlands and presents his work for Summer Dance Forever with this expo. This collection has been curated , exclusively, for Summer Dance Forever (SDF). It’s a collection of photo’s from over 10 years of hip-hop in theater, capturing performances that took place at different locations during the SDF Festival: ITA, DeLaMar, Paradiso and the Oba. Artists from all over the word who are hip-hop minded, are given a spot to showcase their piece on a big stage during the festival. It also gives the audience a chance to discover Hip-Hop in a theatrical way. In the tradition of SDF, the performances are inspired by hip-hop minded influences from breaking to waacking, traditional folk dance, electro and even experimental researches. Each year the stage is filled with the latest developments from the international hip-hop theater scene.

About the photographer:
Sjoerd Derine is a performing Arts Photographer from Utrecht, The Netherlands. He has been capturing dance for over 20 years. As a performer he learned all the steps of photography by capturing his direct environment. This grew organically into a profession and he has been a loyal photographer for SDF for over a decade. His link with SDF spans over 20 years in the form of being part as a dancer, performer and now a photographer. A connection the feels like forever.
