Dance is the highest form of art. We as humans are born storytellers and we like to share and to express. When we are stripped of everything we own, the body is our most important tool. Therefore it doesn’t matter what kind of body you have or where it comes from. In the end, we are all made of stardust and we are here together. So when we dance, for me, it is the highest form of being a human. No tools, no extras, just the body in a state of expression.
My role as a dance photographer is to be up and close to the performance. To have the feeling of being there is the most important thing for me. I’m a true fan of classic arts and this quality is something I want to put in my photography. It is my aim to capture the dance, the dancer, and the piece all in one shot. The art of dance-photography is not to capture the dancer but the dance.
As an in-house photographer for Holland Dance Festival, Open Your Mind, Lucia Marthas, Kinderen voor Kinderen, and being active on a project of on any scale and level of performance, my experience reaches out to a very diverse crowd. From a, just graduated student to an established company, my interest in dance knows no boundaries.
